The Resolution of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Further Deepening Reform Comprehensively to Advance Chinese Modernization was made public recently. Adopted at the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, the resolution emphasizes deepening scientific and technological structural reform. It states: "Targeting the global frontiers of science and technology, the development of the economy, the major needs of the country, and the health and safety of our people, we will refine the mechanisms under which major scientific and technological innovation projects are organized in order to mount a concerted push for breakthroughs in core technologies in key fields."
In an interview with SFC, George Siber, Adjunct Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, highlighted the growing global collaboration with Chinese companies. He emphasized that China's continued openness and information sharing significantly contribute to global health. "The vaccine sector in China is thriving, driven by innovative private biotech startups," said Siber, believing that maintaining such openness will greatly benefit global science and health.
